Interview with Jessica, Joe Smith and Rod

JM: Did you find it difficult to get along with other inmates? Please give examples to explain why you did or didn't.
Jessica: NO. I WAS IN ANOTHER AREA OF THE JAIL, KIND OF AWAY FROM OTHER INMATES. THERE WAS ONLY ONE OTHER PERSON BY ME. I WAS IN THIS SPECIAL AREA BECAUSE OF SUICIDAL TENDENCIES IN THE PAST AND THEY WANTED TO MONITOR ME. THE OTHER INMATE WITH ME WAS GREAT. WE GOT ALONG WELL.
Joe Smith: Sometimes simply because some were way to loud and never shut up.
Rod: no, there was times they would not even let us out of our rooms to associate with other inmates. I was there for a week.Officers would sit in their area and watch movies or laugh and chat with other officers

JM: What types of things did you have to do to avoid problems or fights with other inmates?
Jessica: I REALLY DID NOT LOOK ANYONE IN THE EYE. I DID NOT START CONVERSATIONS WITH ANYONE. I DID NOT AGREE NOR DISAGREE WITH ANY OF THEM. I KEPT TO MYSELF.
Joe Smith: Just mind your own business for the most part.
Rod: walking when there was a officer doing the right thing and would let us walk, played cards, talked about our case and and how disappointed one was

JM: Were you able to choose an inmate as your cellmate if you knew one? How often would your cellmate(s) change?
Jessica: YES. MY FRIEND AND I GOT INTO THIS TROUBLE TOGETHER AND SHE WAS THE ONE WHO ACTUALLY GOT TO STAY WITH ME IN THE SPECIAL AREA. IT WAS A GREAT COMFORT TO ME TO BE ABLE TO HAVE SOMEONE THERE. IT TOOK SOME OF THE FEAR AWAY.
Joe Smith: I don't believe so. I wasn't from the area so I didn't know anyone there.
Rod: no and did not expect that
